TE Champ + 7 rogues beats everything TE without going in 49 times out of 50. Railgun + 7 rogues beats 8 drone 9 times out of 10. This may not matter to some people, but if you're not careful and paying attention to these situations it's also likely not to be sustainable in the long-term - you're going to run out of troops much faster with occasional full losses compared to before where you'd simply retreat from a bad army matchup. This is a very real possibility in the All Ages map with so many possible defending armies, or even in the Future if you're using Rail Guns but the sector has one army of 8 Drone Swarms. However, when attacking a sector, if the armies are varied you never really know what you're going up against (not at first, anyway) and depending on the age, that can result in much higher losses or outright defeat if you aren't in battle to make the first move.
After that, you just click the auto battle button until the army's broken.
With a siege army, you only have to go into battle once to see what the army is. As a counterpoint, I think that compared to attacking sectors, defending actually got much easier.
